Embrace the Wind

We set out in the cold North Sea
Dragon prows pointed South
Bold and fearless, living free
A mighty roar from every mouth
On the morn I left your home
A journey to begin

We sailed our ships in southern brine
And took what e’er we pleased
We grew soft on gold and wine
And knew their city way diseased
So we took to our ocean home
The sea road has no end
Our sails took breath and we did roam
As we embraced the wind

We fought like wolves in our own pack
And blood marked our descent
We gave no thought to hide our tracks
As we embraced the wind

And I have watched a thousand years
And seen the price we’ve paid
Not one eye will shed a tear
Until all lie in their graves
West we sailed to foreign shores
And claimed as ours the land
Our people died but more were born
As we stretched shore to shore
Spirits forlorn, more and more
More and more, and more and more
Sowed our seeds and prayed for more
We built our homes but prayed for war
As years went by, our cities grew
And we tried to pretend
That no thoughts of home coursed through
So we embraced the wind

We fought like wolves in our own pack
And blood marked our descent
We gave no thought to hide our tracks
As we embraced the wind

And I have watched a thousand years
And seen the price we paid
Not one eye will shed a tear
Until all lie in their graves
And I’ll return to your northern home
And I’ll hold your hand again
A flash, so bright, it rips our bones
As we embrace the wind

Salt in our blood
Salt in the sea
Salt in the tears that you shed for me

I’m coming home...

Until the end,  I will embrace the wind
